The game changer awards 2025

The Game Changer Awards finals will back on Monday 3 November 2025!

The annual event aims to acknowledge and reward young Western Australians for developing their science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills through creative problem-solving, collaboration and team work.

Each year, participants choose an issue to solve and setup a project display (science fair style) and present their ideas and solutions to a panel of judges.

Award winners are determined by assesing the students on the merit of their projects.

This year, the Game Changer Awards finals and awards ceremony will be held at Edith Cowan University’s Sport and Fitness Centre, Joondalup.

Registrations for the event are limited. So, submit your entries early, to ensure your school does not miss out.

Background

The Game Changer Awards were created in 2016 by WAITTA to encourage more young people into STEM careers.

The inaugural event was a proof of concept which involved only a few schools. Thankfully, both students and teachers found the program to be rewarding, engaging and fun.  And the program was considered a resounding success.

Since then, with each coming year, the participation numbers have continued to steadily increase.

In 2023, organisers received more than 70 project submissions from 190 students from across WA.

The 2024 Game Changer Awards engaged 440 students from 16 schools, and attracted over 700 attendees.
