UWA Data Institute Conference 2026 Data Matters: Virtuous and the Vicious

The UWA Data Institute Conference is back for 2026. This year’s theme is ‘Data Matters: Virtuous and the Vicious’.

This annual conference is where leaders from research, industry, government and community come together to determine how we ensure data continues to underpin rigorous, evidence-based decision-making in an increasingly data-centric world.

2026 Theme

THE VIRTUOUS: Data can supercharge creativity and innovation across sectors, informing decisions and improving outcomes.

THE VICIOUS: Yet, as reliance on algorithms grows and synthetic content scales, it raises critical questions of trust, bias, diversity and utility.
