Kylie’s journey in STEM began with her fascination for science and its potential to change the world. Over the past decades, she has worked ceaselessly as a leader, advocate, activist, ally, and mentor. She has been a committed and effective advocate for the conditions, people, investments, and structures that support exceptional Australian science, technology, and engineering research and development.
Kylie believes in genuine inclusion and diversity, and passionately educates on the benefits of diversity in STEM. She has mentored emerging Australian leaders and created opportunities for underserved communities internationally. Her work spans many sectors including AI, healthcare, aged care, energy transitions, food and water security, and resilient infrastructure.
Kylie is also a visiting Fellow at the Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science and she has served as Chair of the Australian National Commission for UNESCO. Her efforts to increase investment in Australian research and development and improve equity, diversity, and inclusion in STEM have earned her recognition as one of AFR’s 100 Women of Influence.
